People act like marriage is such a big commitment. And sure. IT IS. The government is involved, often a church is involved, and, usually, lots of people see it happen. When you want out, you probably think it’s going to be REALLY HARD to do it. But there are plenty of things you do all the time that are much harder to get out of.
THINGS THAT ARE HARDER TO GET OUT OF THAN A MARRIAGE:
1. Cell phone plans
2. Gym memberships
3. Credit cards with some new and exciting offers
4. Conversations with people holding clipboards on the street
5. Bed Bath & Beyond mailing lists
Ha! Love this! You are SO right, It WAS harder to cancel my phone plan AFTER I left my marriage, I looked back and said, boy that wasnt so hard afterall, thanks a lot AT&T!!!
Also: credit card mailing lists that continue to use your married name. I have moved FIVE TIMES since getting divorced and changing back to my maiden name. I’m now in a completely different state, and it took less than a month before American Express sent an application in my married name (which was, to be honest, a kind of stupid name, so I’d love to be able to escape it one day).
